Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Crawl Space Moisture Control in Wilmington, NC
As a result of our free crawl space inspection, we provided this Wilmington, NC homeowner with a custom and permanent solution to their crawl space moisture problems. Having high moisture levels in their crawl space caused the homeowner to experience musty odors and moisture issues in the upper levels of their home. Using our CleanSpace vapor barrier, SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier, and SilverGlo crawl space insulation, we created a sealed, dry space that will prevent future moisture issues.
In the crawl space, insulation was damp and falling to the ground as a result of a moisture problem. A mold treatment was done after we removed all the damp, moldy fiberglass insulation from the crawl space. To prevent moisture from entering the crawl space, the crew sealed around the floor joists, vents, and any other open cracks. Insulating and air-sealing this perimeter zone is critical because it’s a major source of air infiltration and conductive heat loss.
This crawl space was insulted with SilverGlo rigid foam wall insulation, which was fastened to the walls, between the joists, and over the vents. Because of its excellent thermal properties and exceptional durability, SilverGlo is ideal for insulating basement and crawl space walls. Moisture won't damage it or reduce its R-value. To prevent ground moisture evaporation, we installed drainage matting and CleanSpace vapor barrier throughout the crawl space floor. A SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier with a condensate pump was installed in the crawl space to maintain a proper humidity level to prevent mold, mildew, and wood rot. In addition to solving the homeowner's immediate crawl space moisture problem, our comprehensive and permanent solution ensures that future moisture-related problems will not affect their home in the future.
