Jacksonville, NC CleanSpace Crawl Space Encapsulation
Challenge
Angela contacted Southeast Foundation & Crawl Space Repair due to standing water in the crawl space. After having a recent termite inspection the inspector noticed that she had wood rot on the main beam of the home and that it needed to be fixed before it caused more damage. Angela had another company perform the woodwork to her home along with install a dehumidifier. Angela noticed after some time that the dehumidifier was not helping the crawl space of the home and she needed to find another solution.
Solution
Southeast Foundation & Crawl Space Repair inspector Cody Dickens met with Angela to do a comprehensive evaluation of the crawl space. Working with Angela, Cody was able to design solutions that would accomplish all the goals that she wanted to dry the crawl space of the home.
Our crew lead by Jason Hines installed the CleanSpace Encapsulation System. They began the project by removing all of the wet and moldy fiberglass insulation between the floor joist of the crawl space. Next, they covered the foundation vents and walls with the SilverGlo Insulation Panels. Unlike traditional fiberglass insulation, the SilverGlo Insulation Panels are comprised of completely inorganic materials that will not absorb moisture or support the growth of mold, rot, or mildew.
The next step in the process was to seal off the crawl space from the exposed dirt floor with the 10 mil CleanSpace Encapsulation Liner. The CleanSpace Encapsulation Liner is a super- durable plastic sheet material designed to permanently prevent moisture, outside air and pest from getting into the crawl space.
Our crew then installed the Smart Sump Sump Pump System which is specially designed for the crawl space using a 1/3hp Zoeller pump that integrates with the CleanSpace Encapsulation Liner for an airtight seal and no bunching of the liner. Paired with the Sump Sump System we installed the energy-efficient Sedona Dehumidifier.
Southeast Foundation & Crawl Space Repair was able to transform this Jacksonville, NC crawl space into a energy- efficient and healthy part of the home.
