Transforming a Nasty Crawl Space in Havelock, NC

Challenge

Bob contacted Southeast Foundation & Crawl Space Repair after musty odors and a problem with dampness in the crawl space had become apparent at his home in Havelock, NC. Any time after having inclement weather the crawl space would experience moisture issues in the crawl space. Over time the thin plastic vapor barrier that was installed was unable to keep up with the destruction water vapor causing musty odors to penetrate into the living area of the home.

Solution

Southeast Foundation & Crawl Space Repair owner Christopher Reeves met with Bob to find the best solution to resolve Bobs Issues. Working with Bob Chris designed a plan of action to install the CleanSpace Encapsulation System along with the CleanSpace Drainage Matting to take care of the moisture issues that he was experiencing.

Our crew led by Jason Hines started off the project by clearing the crawl space from the debris and old vapor barrier and re-graded to make the floor of the crawl space an even surface. We then installed the CleanSpace Drainage matting which is a dimpled plastic mat material that covers the dirt-floored crawl space to create a drainage space that helps water finds its way to the designed place for removal, along with the 10 mil CleanSpace Liner to prevent moisture from entering into the crawl space from the earth's ground and adding the SilverGlo Insulation Panels along the wall of the crawl space. They then stalled the Sedona Dehumidifier along with the SmartSump System to keep the humidity level under 55% relative humidity preventing mold from growing creating a conditioned and clean crawl space.

Bob is excited to have a clean and bright area below his home and to never have to worry about mold thanks to Southeast Foundation & Crawl Space Repair.

BEFORE: The crawl space of the home had an old vapor barrier liner installed that allowed water vapor to still enter the crawl space.

DURING: Our crew installed the CleanSpace Drainage matting which is a designed dimpled plastic mat material that is installed over the dirt-floored crawl space to create a drainage space that helps water find its way out of the crawl space.

AFTER: The crawl space has been outfitted with the CleanSpace Encapsulation System.

AFTER: The crawl space of the home had the SmartSump Sump Pump System installed along the with Sedona Dehumidifier to get rid of excess moisture in the crawl space.
