Challenge

Mr. and Mrs. Jackson's home is a two-story framed structure built in 1998. They had the warning signs of a wet crawlspace for sometime. Mr. Jackson called Southeast Foundaiton & Crawl Space Repair to look into why he and his wife were smelling an odor from their crawl space and why the floors in their home were spongy in some of the rooms. The Jacksons had floor joists that were rotten and an inch of water under their 2445 sf home.

Solution

Southeast Foundation & Crawl Space Repair remedied the problem by removing the plywood from several rooms in the home and replacing the floor joists and plywood on the first floor. The moisture and water issues were corrected by installing a Clean Space Crawl Space Encapsulation System, 2 SaniDry dehumidification systems, and three Smart Sumps with battery back ups.

The installation of the new floor joist has made the Jackson's floors safe again for them with no more spongy feeling under their feet, and no more musty moldy smells from their crawl space. Now the whole house is safe and dry all the time!

With water and moisture entering the building, this crawl space suffered from foul odors, as well as noticeable water damage to the fiberglass crawl space insulation.

The moisture entering this crawl space caused the wooden floor joists to begin to rot and corrode - losing structural integrity, as well as other problems such as musty odors and standing water.

To remedy the crawl space floor joists from rot, Southeast Foundation & Crawl Space Repair removed the wooden plywood and replaced the first floor with a brand new plywood flooring.

To tackle the water and moisture issues in this crawl space, Southeast Foundation & Crawl Space Repair installed a crawl space encapsulation system that included a dehumidifier, vapor barrier, and sump pump system.

The finished product gives this homeowner a dry and functional crawl space with improved structural integrity, as well as improved energy efficiency.
