Foundation Repair Photo Album: Foundation Pier System Permanently Stabilizes Foundation in Lumberton, NC

After a Southeast Foundation & Crawl Space Repair customer recommended our services to a Lumberton, NC customer, they decided to give us a call. A foundation settlement problem was evident and a permanent solution was needed. An appointment was set up with Bob P, one of our foundation repair experts.   Bob thoroughly inspected both the exterior and interior walls of the foundation during his assessment. Upon completion, Bob explained his findings to the customer and proposed a permanent solution. Under a house, there are usually several different layers of soil. When one of these soil layers cannot support the weight of the house, foundation settlement can occur. Along with cracks forming on the foundation walls, jagged cracks developed on the walls inside the building.   In order to resolve this problem permanently, Bob recommended installing foundation piers. The foundation piers extend through soil layers that settle and are unstable and transfer the weight of your house to stable soil or bedrock. During the installation process, a section of the foundation footing is exposed and cut so that it can be attached to each bracket of the pier. You can do this either from the inside or outside of your foundation.     Through foundation brackets, tubular pier sections are driven hydraulically through the footing. The piers must be driven downwards until stable soil is reached. After all push piers & helical piers have been installed, they will work together to transfer the weight of the structure to the strong soils or bedrock beneath. Once the crew finished the installation, the project site is backfilled and leveled with soil.
